Four new community police officers were recently introduced to residents of their assigned neighborhoods.
Officers G.A. Colden and John Burton, both 29, will serve Cavalier Manor and will be based in an office at the Cavalier Manor Recreation Center on Viking Road.
Officers Robert E. Joyner Jr. and Matthew Crutcher will serve the Midtown division. An office has not been established yet.
All four community police officers were formerly assigned to Uniform Patrol.
Colden, an ex-Marine, grew up in Cavalier Manor and attended Norfolk State University.
Burton, a 1985 graduate of Churchland High School, served as a Portsmouth sheriff's deputy for 7 1/2 years before joining the Police Department three years ago.
The two officers will attend the neighborhood's civic league meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Joyner, 43, grew up in Shea Terrace and is the son of retired Portsmouth Police Lt. Col. R.E. Joyner.
He graduated from Wilson High School in 1971 and served in the Marine Corps for four years.
Joyner became a police officer last year after working 19 years as an industrial engineering technician at the Naval Aviation Depot in Norfolk.
Crutcher, 27, a former Virginia Beach resident, joined the department last year. He previously was a Norfolk police officer.
Crutcher is a 1987 graduate of Norfolk Catholic High School and attended Virginia Wesleyan College.
