A series of domestic arguments led to the shooting death of a 27-year-old man early Sunday, police said. Detectives arrested the man's 25-year-old wife and charged her with murder.
Just before 6 a.m. Sunday, police were sent to a Gatehouse Way condominium after someone reported a domestic fight. Before officers arrived, dispatchers received another call saying a man had been shot.
Rescue workers took Travis T. Smith, who had been shot in the chest, to Virginia Beach General Hospital, where he died in surgery. His wife, Myra, was charged with murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
She was being held without bond in the city jail. She is scheduled to appear in court this morning.
The slaying was the city's second of the weekend. On Saturday, 29-year-old Frederick Infante Jr. was shot at his home by suspects who believed he had drugs and money. Police have arrested four people in that case.
