Delores Ann Batkins Grimes, 49, of the 200 block of Teal St., died April 7, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
She was a native of Portsmouth and a former employee of Norfolk Naval Shipyard. She was a member of Believer's Baptist Church where she was a charter member. She was a teacher for the Gleaner's Sunday School Class. Mrs. Grimes was predeceased by her father, Herman E. Batkins.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Jackson Grimes Jr.; her mother, Annie Belle Marshall Batkins of Portsmouth; daughter, Stephanie Renee Grimes of Portsmouth; two aunts, Susie Raines and Jeanette Jones, both of Richmond, Va.; and two nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Believer's Baptist Church by the Rev. Scott Ranck. Burial will be in Churchland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times at 1709 Dock Landing Road, Chesapeake.
