VAL JEAN SPELLMAN

Val Jean Spellman, 33, of the 1700 block of Battlefield Blvd., died April 7, 1996, in Norfolk.

She was a deputy sheriff with the city of Chesapeake and a native of Hickory, Va. She was a member of Willow Grove Baptist Church, Chesapeake.

Survivors include her mother, Alberta Gallop of Portsmouth; step-father, Willie E. Gallop Sr. of Portsmouth; three sisters, Brenda Burke, Cynthia Clemons and Valencia Spellman, all of Chesapeake; a brother, Earl A. Spellman Jr. of Chesapeake; a sister-in-law, Dannetta G. Spellman of Chesapeake; a special friend, Allen T. Barrett of Norfolk; and two nieces and two nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday at Willow Grove Baptist Church, Chesapeake, by Pastor Kevin R. White. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Sentara Norfolk General Neurological Studies, 600 Gresham Drive, Norfolk, Va. 23505. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home is in charge.
