State police are trying to identify a man who was struck and killed in a suspected hit-and-run accident on Interstate 264 early Tuesday, a spokeswoman said.
The victim, a black male, was killed about 2:50 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-264 near Brambleton Avenue. Although he was not elderly, a cane was found near his body and a small Bible was found in his pocket, police said.
State police arrested Traci Patterson Freeman, 29, after she saw a television news report about the man and had a friend call police. Patterson, of Norfolk, was charged with driving on a suspended license and felony hit and run. She was being held in Norfolk on $3,000 bond.
Anyone with information about the man is asked to call 424-6800.
