DRIVER, 73, DIES

A 73-year-old man died Monday night after he was injured when his car left the road and struck a house in the 1900 block of Elmhurst Lane.

Melvin Strutton of the first block of Fairway Drive was pronounced dead at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Amber Whittaker, spokeswoman for the Portsmouth Police Department, said the cause of Strutton's death had not been determined. It is possible, she said, that he suffered a heart attack.

There was minor damage to the house struck by Strutton's car, Whittaker said. by CNB
