Betty Barnes Williams, 68, of the late Hope L. Williams, departed this life April 10, 1996.
She was the loving mother of Richard Williams of Knotts Island, Janet Rose and her husband, Paul of Moyock, and Molly Brite and her husband, David of Elizabeth City. Betty was the proud grandmother of Kelly and Sarah Williams of Knotts Island, Clay and Casey Brite of Elizabeth City, and Tyler Rose of Moyock. She was predeceased by one grandson, Zachary Rose. Betty is also survived by her mother, Frances Barnes of Knotts Island; brother, John E. Barnes Jr. of Knotts Island; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Betty was a native of Knotts Island and was a member of Knotts Island Methodist Church. She was retired from the Currituck County School System. She was the first coordinator of the Knotts Island Community Schools program.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Knotts Island Methodist Church. Twiford Funeral Home, Great Bridge, is in charge of the arrangements. The family will be at her son's residence.
