VANESSA H. MCMICKLE

Vanessa Hillian McMickle, of the 7400 block of Oakmont Drive, died April 8, 1996, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Mrs. McMickle, an accounting technician, worked for the Department of the Navy Defense Accounting System. She was a native of Norfolk and the daughter of Mildred Hillian Green and Elbert Covington. She was a dedicated member of Olive Grove Baptist Church of Norfolk. She was active in all phases of the church, including the gospel choir and as a youth advisor. She was a graduate of Norview High School and Norfolk State University.

Survivors include her husband, James McMickle; two sisters, Darlene Y. Green and Diane Burke; sister-in-law, Margaret A. Green; five brothers, Lorenzo D. Green, Herbert Green Jr., Antonio L. Green, Tyrone Johnson and Elbert Covington Jr.; paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Boone; aunts, Phyllis Stancil and Sarah Hillian Timm; uncles, James Hillian, Jerimiah Hillian, Arnold Hillian, Willie Hillian, Richard Hillian, Leonard Hillian and Maj. Lawrence Hillian; 31 cousins; and six nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Albert and Essie Hillian; and an uncle, Albert Hillian Jr.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Olive Grove Baptist Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. Harry Davis. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be today from 2 to 8 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Service. The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
