James Henry ``Fruit'' Harris Jr., 51, died April 6, 1996, in Southampton County.

Mr. Harris, the son of the late James H. Harris Sr. and Virgie Woodard Harris, was a native of Southampton County. He was formerly employed with Felt's Packing Co. He was a member of New Branch Baptist Church, Ivor.

Survivors include four sisters, Helen Cotten of Ivor, Agnes Harris of Waverly, Va., Virgie A. Jones of Capemay Court House, N.J., and Shirley Havns of Woodbine; two brothers, Wendel Harris of Ivor and Winston Harris of Wakefield; three aunts, Jennie M. Harris of Hampton, and Roberta Holloway and Inell Holloman of Ivor; three uncles, Charlie Harris of Zuni, Va., Dielano Woodard of Wakefield and Robert Woodard of Riveria, Fla.; a great-uncle, Joseph Harris Sr. of Zuni; a sister-in-law, Linda Harris of Wakefield; two great-aunts, Ethel Little and Bernice Woodard, both of Suffolk; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Branch Baptist Church, Ivor, by the Rev. Frank Aikens. Burial will be in Gilfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Ivor. The body will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Crocker Funeral Home is in charge.
