Oweeda June Collins Sprinkle, 70, of the 2800 block of Woodduck Drive, died April 11, 1996.
She worked for many years for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co. as secretary for the traffic manager in Portsmouth. Later in life, Mrs. Sprinkle was a secretary to the pastor of Avondale Estates First Baptist Church of Avondale Estates, Ga. She was a native of Huntington, W.Va. She was a member of Sandbridge Community Chapel United Methodist Church, Virginia Beach. She was an avid Bridge player in Virginia Beach.
Survivors include two daughters, Sheila S. Dunn of Stockbridge, Ga., and Denise Martindale of Virginia Beach; seven sisters, Hazel Ruth of Bellaire, Texas, Elise Shumate of Castro Valley, Calif., Wanda Sprinkle of Virginia Beach, Carol Wilozenski of Annapolis, Md., Jean Terry of Orlando, Fla., Doris Wigglesworth of Edgewater, Md., and Betty Bias of Huntington; three grandchildren, Joshua Sloan and Justin Sloan, both of Virginia Beach, and Destiny Dunn of Stockbridge; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Nelson Sprinkle; her parents, Arvil and Hattie Barbour Collins; and two brothers, Harold Collins and Ruel Lee Collins.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. Edward S. Martin Jr. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
