Doris Jennette Stirling, 77, of Buxton, N.C., answered the call to enter her heavenly home on April 10, 1996.
She was born in Dare County on March 12, 1919. She was the daughter of the late Baxter Jennette and the late Lula Midgett Jennette and the beloved wife of the late Rev. Andrew Stirling.
She was a devoted mother to a daughter, Deanie Stirling of Buxton; a son, Baxter Stirling and wife, Jean of Southport, N.C.; adoring ``Nana'' of Aida Fesler of San Antonio, Texas, Andrew Stirling of Washington, D.C., Mary Mac Stirling of Long Beach, N.C., and Karric and Tommy Roberts of Southport. She is also survived by her brother, Isaac Jennette of Buxton; numerous nieces and nephews who all called her ``Aunt Dee.''
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church by the Rev. Shaun Mizelle who will be assisted by the Rev. Elmo Daniels. Interment will follow at the family cemetery on Highway 12 between Buxton and Frisco. Pallbearers will be Tom Denton, Ray Robinson, Wayland Jennette, Steve Jennette, Junius Jennette, Joey Jennette and Billy Hehl. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at her home in Buxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Women's Ministries of the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church P.O. Box 21, Buxton, N.C. 27920. Twiford Funeral Home, Manteo, N.C., is in charge.
