MAN WHO DIED IN NORFOLK WRECK IDENTIFIED

A man who died Wednesday afternoon of injuries sustained in a car accident was identified Thursday as Michael D. Jones.

A state police spokeswoman said Jones, 24, of Hillsboro, N.J., was believed to be a Hampton University student.

He was critically injured about 3:30 a.m. on I-64 near County Street when he apparently lost control of his 1991 Acura. The car hit a traffic-control wall and overturned several times.

Jones was thrown from the car into the middle lane.

He died about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
