TIME AGAIN TO SEE some of the finest homes and gardens in the state. Historic Garden Week in Virginia begins Saturday and continues through April 27.
There are numerous tours in Hampton Roads and others worth an afternoon's drive.
The 63-year-old event, sponsored by member clubs of The Garden Club of Virginia, benefits the restoration of historic gardens statewide. Previous tours have financed such things as the restoration of grounds at the Adam Thoroughgood House in Virginia Beach and the Old Courthouse in Portsmouth.
A book describing the homes and gardens on tour is available at some American Automobile Association offices, chambers of commerce, travel agencies and other locations throughout Hampton Roads.
Visitors are requested not to smoke, take pictures or wear heels that could damage floors. Tours will take place on the dates scheduled, regardless of weather. [For complete listing of the Historic Garden Week home tour, see microfilm] ILLUSTRATION: B\W photo by CHARLIE MEADS/The Virginian-Pilot
