Billie Rufus Small, 64, of the 1900 block of Ames Circle West, died April 12, 1996, in his residence.
He was a native of Chesapeake and had retired from Hoechst-Celanese as a general foreman. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a Methodist and a member of the Ante Hunt Club.
He is survived by his wife, Linda C. Small; two daughters, Sherri L. Walt and Debra Kim Mahler, both of Bentonville, Ark.; a son, William Troy Small of Lexington, S.C; four sisters, Mildred Swain of Virginia Beach, Lillian Smith of Norfolk, Helen Sluppick of Hot Springs, Ark., and Emily Banes of Moore, Okla.; and four grandchildren.
Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Mausoleum. A funeral will be conducted there at 1 p.m. Tuesday, by the Rev. John Bright. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
