Hoyt Bright James Sr., 71, of 507 Jessup St., died Friday, April 12, 1996, at Albemarle Hospital.
He was a native of Pungo, Va., and a retired civil service worker. He was a member of the William Clarence Jackson Post 6060 of the V.F.W. and a a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II. He was the son of the late Victor James and the late Addie Bright James Winslow. He was the husband, of Dezzie Gray James of the home.
Besides his wife, Mr. James is survived by two sons, H.B. James Jr. and Terry James, both of Elizabeth City; a sister, Dorothy Lovett of Virginia Beach; a brother, Ray James of Virginia Beach; a half-brother, Shelton Bright of Elizabeth City; and a grandson, Brian Andrew James.
Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. F. Joe Griffith officiating. The family will be at the residence. Twiford's Memorial Chapel is in charge.
