BEACH COUNCIL TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING ON BUDGET

The City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed 1996-97 budget Thursday at Larkspur Middle School, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

More than 50 people have signed up to speak, so individual speakers will be limited to a few minutes each.

Those wishing to speak can sign up at the door, or beforehand by calling the City Clerk's office at 427-4303. The hearing impaired can call 427-4305 to sign up.

The budget calls for a 3.2-cent increase in the tax rate.

Most of the increase will help make up for a reduction in federal funding for schools, improve maintenance of city buildings and staff the new Virginia Marine Science Museum.
