LETTERS TO THE EDITOR-VIRGINIA BEACH BEACON

Endorsement for candidate Bradway

I am a student at the University of Virginia writing in strong support of the candidacy of Don Bradway for the Virginia Beach School Board. As a graduate from Kempsville High School, I have had the pleasure of getting to know Mr. Bradway through family and friends. He has always been supportive and enthusiastic of all my endeavors and I feel this is the least I can do in return.

His long list of credentials is not the only thing he has in his favor. Mr. Bradway is set apart from the rest by his sincere concern for the future of our students and his new innovative ideas for change and improvement. The community has been let down far too many times by past school board members because they were running for the wrong reasons. I assure you and the Virginia Beach community that Don Bradway is running for all the right reasons.

Virginia Beach Money poorly spent

It is very difficult to believe that the School Board and the City of Virginia Beach is going to pay $25,000 in legal fees for Tim Jackson and Ferdinand Tolentino, and that Mordecai Smith will receive over $30,000. This money would equip 10 classrooms with much needed computer equipment and hire an additional teacher to relieve overcrowded classrooms.

How can these men who purport to be friends of education accept? When do we stop buying out our top administrators? Everyone in the schools is making sacrifices to help make a dent in the deficit but they are still spending!
