Gum Tong Wong, 88, died Saturday, April 20, 1996.
He was a native of China and had been a Peninsula resident for 71 years. Mr. Wong retired from owning his own laundry, and later, his own restaurant.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Chow Don Wong and Grace Tuen-Nga Wong; and two grandsons, Ryan and Eric Wong, all of Newport News.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. Contributions may be made to Mary Immaculate Hospital Hospice Unit, or the Chinese Community of Tidewater.
