CAREER TRACK

BANKING

Five officers were promoted at Life Savings Bank. Matthew E. Brown was promoted from assistant vice president and controller to vice president and controller. Underwriters B. Clyde Dalton and N. Joseph Dreps Jr. were promoted from assistant vice president to vice president. Clarence W. Keel was named vice president and assistant secretary. He was assistant vice president and assistant secretary. And Richard A. Pippin Jr. was promoted from assistant vice president to vice president. Also, Harry H. Knickerbocker and Rose M. Malloy were named assistant vice presidents; and Barbara R. Neary was named assistant vice president, chief internal auditor and compliance officer.

Also, Dr. Charles M. Early was appointed to the board of directors at Life Savings Bank and Robert M. Hoffman was named vice president at the bank. Early is a retired Virginia Beach surgeon and former member of the board of directors of Seaboard Savings. Hoffman was vice president, consumer loan underwriter at Seaboard Savings Bank.

GOVERNMENT

Carolyn Prosise was named director of the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry's Tidewater regional office in Norfolk. She manages and directs the department's programs and operations in the region. She was an occupational health nurse consultant for the department in Norfolk.

HOSPITALITY

Tracy Roberson was named chef/general manager of the Virginia Beach Pavilion Convention Center. She has been associated with the Cypress Point Country Club and most recently with the Clarion Hotel at Pembroke Corporate Center.

MANUFACTURING

Frank Wagner of Virginia Beach has bought the small ship repair firm Davis Boat Works of Newport News from T.O. Mayhew. Wagner co-founded Earl Industries Inc., a Portsmouth ship repair firm.

Richard G. Holder, chairman and chief executive officer of Reynolds Metals Co. since 1992, will retire Oct. 1 as part of the Richmond-based company's mandatory retirement policy. Reynolds has set no deadline to select a successor.

LAW

Otis Kennedy Forbes III was named a partner with Rae & Bergstrom in Virginia Beach. He will focus on railroad injury, the Federal Employers Liability Act, personal injury, medical malpractice and criminal and military law. The firm's name will be changed to Rae Bergstrom & Forbes. Forbes was formerly with Wilson & Hajek in Virginia Beach.

David A. Greer of Hofheimer, Nusbaum McPhaul & Samuels was elected president of the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association. Debera F. Conlon with the Office of the U.S. Trustee was elected president-elect.

ORGANIZATIONS

Carol H. Ormond was named president and chief executive officer of AAA of Tidewater Virginia. She has been with the association for 18 years. She succeeds J.T. (Tim) Timmons, who was named president emeritus after 60 years of service.

The Hampton Roads chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators elected Ronald G. Dyer of Willcox & Savage president and Jackie A. Spitzli of the Virginia Beach Commonwealth Attorney's office as vice president.

Linda J. Amiss was elected president of the Hampton Roads chapter of the Virginia Credit Union League. Amiss, president of the Virginia Educators' Credit Union for 21 years, previously served as vice president for the chapter. The chapter, which includes 20 credit unions, coordinates training and education.

E.G. ``Rudy'' Middleton III was elected president of the Builders & Contractors Exchange of Hampton Roads. He is the executive vice president of E.G. Middleton Inc. in Norfolk.

Steve L. Massie was elected president of the Associated General Contractors of Virginia. He is vice president of Jack L. Massie Contractor Inc. of Williamsburg.

RECRUITING

Gary T. Lupton was named vice president and operations manager at the Professional Exchange, which organizes high tech career fairs. He was vice president for corporate telecommunications services at NationsBank. MEMO: Career Track reports upper-level executive and management changes.
