PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR PATENT EXPERTS

A group of patent practitioners were encouraged to form an organization that focused on patent prosecution and technological advances as a result of Joy Bryant of Newport News.

Bryant, a registered patent agent, posted an article to the intellectual property news group on the Internet requesting any patent agents interested in forming an association send her e-mail. Thirteen individuals responded, so in January the National Association of Patent Practitioners was founded.

Subsequently, Bryant became president of NAPP and Darla K. Davis, also of Newport News, became executive director. The oganization supports patent practitioners and others in matters relating to patent law and technological developments. The association is for patent agents, lawyers, people studying for the patent bar, and those interested in learning about the patent process and new technology.

NAPP's headquarters is in Newport News, and its founding members include 19 patent practitioners representing 10 different states.

Anyone interested in the group should call 1-800-540-8720 or visit the web site at http://www.napp.org/. Send inquiries to Internet: NAPP96(AT)AOL.COM. by CNB
