A man who told officers he swerved to avoid a mother duck walking her ducklings across the road paid for his efforts by driving his car into a lake.
The driver was not hurt, but his car was submerged.
The accident happened about 3:36 p.m. along Shell Road near Pandora Ave. at a branch of Lake Lawson.
Police are investigating the accident and said alcohol may have been a factor in the single-car wreck.
