Shandon Dare Knape, 80, of the 700 block of Inlet Quay, died Monday, April 22, 1996, in a Chesapeake hospital.
Mr. Knape was born in Milwaukee, Wisc., and was the son of the late Cecil and Frieda Underberg Knape. He had retired as a federal employee with the Department of Commerce after 32 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Cooper Knape; his two daughters, Sandra Knape West of Chesapeake and Alice Knape Hall of Richmond; his son, Michael Stephen Embrey of Cordova, Md.; a sister, Ithurial Spurrier of Clearwater, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Victoria Lynn Embrey, Allysun Cathrine Embrey, and Ryan Christopher McGregor.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Messiah United Methodist Church by the Rev. Wayne Snead. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
