James Vernon Duke, 72, of the 100 block of North St., died April 21, 1996, at Obici Hospital.
Mr. Duke, a native of Suffolk, retired from Planters Peanuts as a clerk after 27 years of service. He was a member of West End Baptist Church, Suffolk.
Survivors include a son, Richard Mark Duke of Tappahannock, Va.; a sister, Joyce D. Griggs of Suffolk; two brothers, Perry Y. Duke and Louis Randolph Duke, both of Suffolk.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at West End Baptist Church by the Rev. T. Floyd Irby Jr. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to West End Baptist Church, Memorial Trust, 501 W. Washington St., Suffolk, 23434. Hill Funeral Home is in charge.
