LUTHER E. PARKER

Luther ``Edwin'' Parker, 77, of the 800 block of Burksdale Road, died April 21, 1996, in DePaul Medical Center.

A native of Kitty Hawk, N.C., he was the son of the late Callie E. and Alethia S. Parker. He retired from the U.S. Army of Corps Engineers after 37 years of service. He was a survey technician and received several awards for ideas and inventions. He was a member of Hyde Park Freewill Baptist Church and served for several years on both the deacon and usher boards.

He is survived by his wife, Melba Ewell Parker; three children, Patricia Parker Hare of Norfolk, Stanley Edwin Parker of Chesapeake, and David Keith Parker of Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at Hyde Park Freewill Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Terry Beck. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Hyde Park Freewill Baptist Church, 8501 Chesapeake Blvd., Norfolk, Va. 23503.
