DARE COUNTY
LT. GOVERNOR VISITS: North Carolina Lt. Gov. Dennis Wicker concludes a two-day visit to Dare County today, with a speech at the North Banks Rotary Club.
Wicker hasoutdoor tennis courts, an outdoor basketball court and playground.
The center will be staffed by employees of the county's Older Adult Services Department and Parks and Recreation Department.
County Manager Terry Wheeler said Dabni Gray, the Hatteras Island coordinator for the Parks and Recreation Department, will serve as the director of the facility.
The center was constructed at a cost of $1.2 million. Open house orientation will be held on May 20. Scheduled activities will begin on June 3.

KILL DEVIL HILLS
BIKE TRAIL DEDICATION: The Kill Devil Hills Board of Commissioners will dedicate the Wright Brothers Bicycle Trail on Wednesday at 9 a.m.
The ceremony will be conducted at the beginning of the trail at the end of West First Street in Kill Devil Hills.

MEETING CHANGED: The Dare County Oregon Inlet & Waterways Commission meeting scheduled for Thursday has been changed to Monday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Commissioner's Administrative Annex in Manteo.
SCHOOL CANDIDATES MEET: The public is invited to meet the candidates for the Dare County School Board at The League of Women Voters' ``Candidates Night'' forum in the Manteo Middle School Auditorium tonight at 7 p.m..
ELIZABETH CITY
NURSING CLASS: The College of The Albemarle will hold a Nursing Assistant 1 class April 25 through June 28 at the main campus in Elizabeth City.
The class will meet from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and some Saturdays.
