A gospel concert featuring Harvey White and Southern Sound will be held at Wilroy Baptist Church at 7 p.m. Sunday .
Traveling from their home base in Windsor, N.C., Southern Sound will present a 75-minute program that White described as ``good old Southern-style gospel music.'' White is the lead singer for the trio. His daughter Nicole sings tenor, and Doug Bazemore sings baritone.
Instrumentalists on the piano, steel guitar, bass and drums provide accompaniment.
``This is one of the best groups out of North Carolina,'' said Clifton Branch, president of the Tidewater Gospel Music Association. ``They live for the One they sing about.''
Southern Sound has traveled the roads of North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Tennessee, singing gospel music in churches and concert halls along the way.
Tricia Powers, music enthusiast and a member at Wilroy, said, ``They just shine when they sing, and they just draw you in with their music and message.''
Wilroy Music Director Gail Dey said the church is a music-loving congregation. She directs the church's 40-voice adult choir and supervises the church's four-choir, age-graded music ministry. She noted that the church sponsors several concerts a year. MEMO: Sunday's concert is free and open to the public. A love offering will be
