The music begins next month when the Virginia Beach Amphitheater
opens May 15. Until then, however, construction workers are the
stars of the show as they work furiously to get the $17.5 million
outdoor concert arena ready for opening night. Workers of every
trade - painters, carpenters, electricians, masons, landscapers -
are busy doing their thing at the field next to Princess Anne Park.
Here, Phillip Ennis paints the exterior of one of the concession
stands. A concert by Bruce Hornsby is the season opener for the
theater, which will seat 20,000.
