BEST CHOICE FOR NORFOLK COUNCIL

Mason Andrews says that projects succeed when they are headed by committed leaders who will not - nay, cannot - rest until the tasks are done. For most of his adult life, Mason himself has been the exemplar of that philosophy as far as our beloved city of Norfolk is concerned. All citizens of Norfolk have reason to rejoice that he is standing for re-election to a seventh term as a member of Norfolk City Council in selfless recognition by him that much remains to be done.

Displaying a remarkable combination of professional and civic talents, Mason Andrews has reached the pinnacle of his chosen profession of medicine - he is known and respected internationally. His professional achievement is all the more remarkable because while gaining stature as a medical practitioner he also found time and energy to play a key role in the rebirth of his city.

Mason Andrews exerted a major influence on the development of the Norfolk Medical Center, Eastern Virginia Medical School, downtown Norfolk, Waterside, the Norfolk Campus of Tidewater Community College and Nauticus.

During his long service on the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission, Mason has developed a grasp of local and regional transportation matters second to no other elected official in Southeastern Virginia. His broad and deep knowledge together with his dogged perseverance in everything he does gives him great leverage in regional transportation decisions as well as in other vital matters that come before the regional planning body.

I could go on and on. Every significant local or regional project in the past quarter-century has benefited from the informed input of Mason Andrews.

In recognition of his productive service to Norfolk and in our own self-interest, let's re-elect Mason as councilman from Norfolk's Superward 6 on May 7.
