William B. Ershler, a University of Wisconsin doctor and researcher, will become director of the new Glennan Center for Geriatrics at Norfolk's Eastern Virginia Medical School, school officials announced Friday.
Ershler will arrive this summer, bringing with him several staff members.
His research has focused on various aspects of immune function and aging. He has written more than 150 scientific papers, edited two books and is the editor of the ``Journal of Gerontology: Medical Sciences.''
The Glennan Center, which will be housed in Hofheimer Hall on the main campus, was created by a $2 million gift from Virginia Glennan Ferguson, a Virginia Beach resident, in honor of her father and grandfather. by CNB
