I am grateful to the Virginia Beach City Council and the School Board, which in 1978 had the foresight to provide a place where I could complete my education. The door opened to me was the Adult Learning Center. I took a placement test, was placed in a class and began studies to complete my GED. Receiving my GED has been a highlight in my life.
Soon another door opened to me. The Adult Learning Center called and offered me a job as a teacher's assistant. I can't imagine a job more rewarding than helping adults learn to read, write and do math. I am grateful to ALC for opening that special door. My life has been changed and enriched.
