ADVERTISING
John R. Dufour was named director of hospitality marketing for Ad-Ventures Advertising in Virginia Beach. His responsibilities include new business development and account servicing of local and national hotels and resorts. He was senior sales manager at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott.
BANKING
Anna G. Bowerman was promoted to vice president at Central Fidelity National Bank. She currently serves as branch manager at the bank's Wards Corner Farm Fresh office in Norfolk. She joined the bank in 1989 and managed the Woodford Square Farm Fresh branch in Chesapeake.
R. Craig Baker was promoted to senior vice president at Heritage Bank & Trust. He has been with the bank since 1990 as a commercial loan and real estate lender. He's located in the bank's Military Circle branch. Shelayne S. Boswell was named assistant vice president. A bank employee since 1985, she oversees the credit loan review and compliance areas. She works in the Greenbrier office.
CONTRACTING
Jack E. Harper Jr. was named general superintendent of field operations at Sprinkle Masonry in Chesapeake. He has been with the company for more than five years and was most recently the foreman of the Currituck County High School project in North Carolina.
HOSPITALITY
Tracy Roberson was named chef/general manager of the Virginia Beach Pavilion Convention Center. He has been associated with the Cypress Point Country Club and most recently, with the Clarion Hotel at Pembroke Corporate Center.
ENGINEERING
Carl E. Cholewa, Robert G. Kal and Thomas T. Winborne were promoted from vice presidents to senior vice presidents at Clark Nexsen, a full-service architectural and engineering firm in Norfolk. They have also been re-appointed to the firm's board of directors.
UTILITIES
Francis J. ``Frank'' Corbett was named vice president of operations at Virginia Natural Gas Inc. He succeeds Jerry L. Causey who became president April 1. Previously, Corbett was general manager of the company's northern division office in Newport News.
Succeeding Corbett is Jose M. Simon, who was named general manager for the northern division area, which includes the Peninsula and Middle Peninsula as well as Hanover, New Kent and Charles City counties. Previously, he was controller in the financial accounting department at the corporate office in Norfolk.
And, Joseph R. Goral was named director of the corporate and financial accounting departments for the utility. Prior to this, he was director of corporate accounting and taxation.
EDUCATION
J. Darlene Goodwin was named marketing coordinator for Old Dominion University's TELETECHNET program, the satellite distance learning network. Previously, she designed marketing and hiring strategies for Jackson-Hewitt Tax Service's western offices from Texas to California.
Dr. Donald W. Lewis, a pediatric neurologist, was appointed associate dean of admissions at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Robert M. McCombs had been associate dean of admissions and associate dean of student affairs. McCombs will continue in the student affairs role. Lewis, an associate professor of neurology, will maintain his clinical offices at the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters and the Children's Neurodevelopmental Center.
