Margaret Willey Selby, 79, of the 500 block of N. George Washington Highway, died April 27, 1996, in Portsmouth.
Mrs. Selby was born in Norfolk County and was the widow of Charles F. Selby. She was retired as owner and operator of Charles' Beauty Schools in Portsmouth and Newport News. She was currently employed at Hicks Beauty Academy. She was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church; past president of the Virginia Beauty School Association; and a 1934 graduate of Deep Creek High School.
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Hemmings of Chesapeake and Angela Shelton of San Diego, Calif.; a son, Thomas Selby of Chesapeake; two stepsons, Charles Selby of Supply, N.C., and Donald Selby of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Ellen Willey Persons of Suffolk; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Deep Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Ernie Meyers. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will be at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the Deep Creek Baptist Church Building Fund.
