A man wanted for more than a year in connection with the murder of a man who was shot in the face with a shotgun was arrested without incident Sunday.
Robert L. Boykins, 52, was arrested about 11:30 a.m. at his residence in the 1300 block of Maltby Ave.
Boykins' arrest came just hours after his photograph was published in Crime Line on Sunday morning, sparking a flurry of phone calls to police.
He was being held without bond in the city jail on charges of murder, using a firearm while committing a felony, and burglary with intent to commit murder. He faces an arraignment hearing at 9 a.m. today.
Police have been looking for Boykins since Jan. 14, 1995, when John R. Smiley Jr., 28, of Norfolk, was killed in the 800 block of St. Paul's Blvd.
Smiley was visiting his girlfriend's home about 4:30 p.m., when a man broke in and shot him in the face with a shotgun. Smiley died a short time later at a hospital.
