Marcella Hassell Brown, 65, of the 3600 block of Western Branch Blvd., died April 29, 1996, in her residence.
She was a native of Columbia, N.C., and a nursing assistant for Family Care Services.
Survivors include a son, Allan B. Cox, and his wife, Lucy Fletcher Cox, of Portsmouth; a sister, Barbara Batten of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; a grandchild, Jill Marie Cox of Chesapeake; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Scott Ranck at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Burial will be in Churchland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at 412 Lands End Road, Portsmouth. Memorial donations may be made to Believers Baptist Church Building Fund.
