Charlotte Ann Ford was born Aug. 29, 1946 in Chesapeake and after a lengthy illness, Charlotte departed this life very peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 1996.
She was born to the union of Annie Louise B. Ford and the late Charles Ford. As a child, Charlotte loved riding her bike, swinging on her swing, and taking trips to visit her grandparents ``Daddy Tom and Mom Minnie.'' Life progressed for Charlotte nicely until she lost her father.
Southeastern Virginia Training Center offered another home for Charlotte where she learned new skills, made new friends, and was cared for exceptionally well.
She leaves to cherish her memories a brother and sister-in-law, Dwight T. and Armenta E. Fox of San Francisco; a sister, Abdulia Jean Lockett and a nephew, Ian L. Lockett of Chesapeake; three uncles, William Carpenter of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Russel and Elijah Ford of Burlington, N.C.; five aunts, Thelma Braint, Daisy Scott, and Thelma Blackman, all of Rocky Point, N.C., Louise Brewington of Montclair, N.J.; and Mable Howard of Wilmington, N.C. Charlotte is also remembered by a host of cousins, neighbors and friends.
A funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday by Dr. Theodore R. Little Jr. in Dome of Canaan Baptist Church. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Riddick Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
