From all indications, State Employees should receive a pay raise in December. The General Assembly has passed legislation on this proposal.
I wonder if everyone is aware that his so-called raise will not be recognized until 1998.
Our governor has changed all pay dates in the year 1997, causing state employees to receive only 23 paychecks in 1997 compared to 24 paychecks which they receive currently in a year.
The change in pay days is no more than a political move to gain political favor. This move will not effect the budget of the Allen administration until his term has been fulfilled.
Every state employee should remember this move at the next election.
