Police are asking anyone who was in either of two Wards Corner stores that were robbed by two men Monday afternoon to contact detectives.
The robbery occurred about 3p.m. at Wards Corner Mall in the 7500 block of Granby Street, police said. Two men wearing masks entered S & S Fashions and New York New York and robbed both stores at gunpoint.
The fled in a stolen car after being fired on by an off-duty Norfolk police officer who had been nearby. No one was injured. The car was found abandoned about a mile away with some of the stolen merchandise inside. The robbers disappeared. Anyone with information is asked to call robbery investigators at 664-7032. by CNB
