WILLIAM H. JOHNSON

William Hobbs ``Bill'' Johnson, a native of Norfolk and the son of the late William G. Johnson and Adassa Hobbs Johnson, passed away April 30, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Mr. Johnson was employed by the Norfolk city school system for over 29 years, more recently at Booker T. Washington High School in the math department. Mr. Johnson was also the tennis coach. He attended Jerusalem Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and superintendent of the Sunday school.

Survivors include an aunt, Mrs. Helene Johnson of Portsmouth; a cousin, Mr. Phillip Johnson of Portsmouth; and many devoted friends.

The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Thomas M. Venable in Jerusalem Baptist Church. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends at Hale Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today for visitation. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The family will assemble at the funeral home at 12:45 p.m. Saturday for the procession to the church.
