ENGINEERING HISTORY IN THE MAKING: THE NEW COLEMAN BRIDGE

For the first time in Virginia, a bridge - ready to carry traffic - has been built far from its permanent site. The six pieces of the new George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge were constructed on the Elizabeth River in Norfolk. They come complete, ready to be placed on reinforced pilings over the York River between Yorktown and Gloucester Point.
