Lillian C. Carruthers, 84, died May 2, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
She was a retired assistant manager for the Navy Exchange and was born in Camden, N.C. The widow of Samuel A. Carruthers, she was a member of Cradock Baptist Church. She taught the Robin Sunday School Class and was a member of the Ruth Bible Class. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Victory Chapel.
She is survived by two sons, Donald A. Carruthers and Wayne C. Carruthers, both of Chesapeake; a sister, Eva Wilson of Portsmouth; a granddaughter, Melissa C. Linsky of Portsmouth; a grandson, Edward N. Carruthers of Chesapeake; and a great-grandson, Daniel K. Carruthers of Chesapeake. She was predeceased by a grandson, Richard L. Carruthers.
A funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday by Dr. David R. Denny in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Chapel. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Cradock Baptist Church.
