Harold Elsworth Merryman, 75, of Virginia Beach, died May 4, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.
He was born in Baltimore and was retired from the U.S. Air Force as a senior master sergeant after 30 years. He was also retired from civil service. He was a Catholic, a member of Cherry Valley Masonic Lodge (NU)344 in New York and 32nd degree Mason, Scottish Rite Bodies of Newport News, a recipient of the Purple Heart and a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Lavada May Merryman; a daughter, Charlotte J. and her husband, Robert Moore of Virginia Beach; three sons, Kenneth and his wife, Carolyn Merryman of Seaford, Del., Albert and his wife, Brenda Merryman of Albuquerque, N.M., Harold E. and his wife, Kerry Merryman of New Iberia, La.; three grandsons, Andy Moore and Brian Moore, both of Virginia Beach, and Eric Merryman of Seaford, Del.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, in Arlington National Cemetery. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 8,where Masonic rites will be held at 7 p.m.
