Police on Tuesday identified the 25-year-old man charged in Monday's fatal shooting of his stepfather as Vernell L. Dolberry.
Dolberry apparently argued with 47-year-old Roderick S. Humphries on the porch of the North Witchduck Road home the men shared with at least four other family members. Around 6 p.m., Dolberry shot his stepfather several times, police said.
Humphries, a truck driver, tumbled into the home and collapsed just inside the front door.
Dolberry waited for police to arrive and quietly surrendered. He has been charged with murder and using a gun in a crime.
