JAMES F. BARRINGTON

James F. Barrington, 79, died May 7, 1996, in Waldorf, Md., after a brief illness.

A native of Rensselaer, N.Y., he later resided in Washington, D.C., and Silver Spring, Md. During his 35 years with the Federal Government, Coast and Geodetic Survey (NOAA), he was presented the Department of Commerce Bronze Medal Award for superior service as well as other commendations. He retired in 1975 as chief of the Systems Branch, C&GS, Rockville, Md. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Force in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Virginia chapter of the Association of Government Accountants, American Legion, and National Association of Government Retired Employees.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years Dolores ``Pat'' Barrington; two daughters, Nora Waters and her husband, David of Anchorage, Alaska, and Eileen Forrest and her husband, Michael of Virginia Beach; three sons, Michael and his wife, Pam of Silver Spring, Md., Frank and his wife, Cathy of Chesapeake, and Edward and his wife, Terri of Waldorf; two brothers, Joseph Barrington of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and William Barrington of Rensselaer; two sisters, Frances Barrington of Rensselaer; and Mary Quackenbush of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; and 13 grandchildren.

The Barrington emblem ``Ug Durant Ma Vie,'' The Same While I Live, personifies James' life as he lived it. Like a rock, he was always there for his family. Integrity his watchword, he was a truly good man, husband, father and friend. Friends may join the family at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1396 Lynnhaven Parkway, on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. for visitation, followed by a joyful Mass of the Resurrection at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum, Princess Anne Memorial Park Cemetery, 1110 N. Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach. Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the building fund, Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
