Roland Hall Marshall, 78, of the 1800 block of Mt. Pleasant Road, died May 9, 1996, in a Chesapeake hospital.
He was a native of Norfolk and a member of Blackwater Hunt Club. He was known along the Northwest River as ``River Rat.'' Mr. Marshall was a machinist for NORSHIPCO.
He is survived by a daughter, Marie Marshall Johns of Chesapeake; son, Roland Howard Marshall of Miami; sister, Mary Sue Hatcher of Florida; three brothers, Beverly E. Marshall of Virginia Beach, Garland R. Marshall of Chesapeake, Vernon L. Marshall of Northern Virginia; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a brother, E. Chesley Marshall, who resided in Chesapeake.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday by Pastor David Rieke in Hampton National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Donations may be made to Chesapeake General Hospital.
