McKinley Lee Byrd Sr., of the 2900 block of Leo St., died May 9, 1996, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.
A truck driver and a native of Crewe, Va., Mr. Byrd was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Florenza Byrd; four daughters, Sylvia Byrd, Julia Byrd, Crystal Byrd, Tiffany Byrd, all of Portsmouth; two sons, Angelo Byrd of Portsmouth, McKinley Byrd Jr. of Maryland; parents, Fannie Byrd and Joseph B. Purnell, both of Norfolk.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. J.S. Whitfield in Carlos A. Howard Funeral Chapel. Burial is in Olive Branch Cemetery. The remains will be ready for viewing today at 3:30 p.m. The family will assemble at 2917 Leo St., for the procession at noon.
