Ethel C. Leach, 95, formerly of 1225 Summit Ave., died May 11, 1996, in Sentara Hampton General Hospital, Hampton.
She was a native of Raeford, N.C., and the widow of John Henry Leach Sr. Mrs. Leach was a member of Brighton Rock A.M.E.Z. Church, Portsmouth, where she was a former member of the Stewardess Board and the Senior Choir. She was also a member of the Independent Order of Tents.
She is survived by a son, William Leach, and wife, Ora Blow Leach of Baltimore; seven grandchildren, including Gwendolyn B. Leach of Hampton; great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild; a daugther-in-law, Frances B. Leach; two sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Leroy R. Blair in Brighton Rock A.M.E.Z. Church, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The family will be at 1501 Charleston Ave., Portsmouth, and at the church for a wake at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church for the funeral service.
