Charles Howard Clouse, 83, died May 24, 1996, at Sentara Leigh Hospital.
Mr. Clouse is survived by his wife, Lois; sons, Charles and Bill; a daughter, Gail; and three grandchildren. In addition to his immediate family, Mr. Clouse leaves a large family of relatives and a legacy of lifelong friends.
Born Dec. 2, 1912, in Holton, Kan., Mr. Clouse was retired from the U.S. Navy. A veteran of World War II, he served as an officer in the U.S. Submarine Service, Pacific Fleet, and was a recipient of both the Bronze and Gold Stars. Following 20 years of service in the Navy, Mr. Clouse was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, where he retired as a supervisor after 19 years. In addition, Mr. Clouse was involved as a local business owner in the Norfolk area. Mr. Clouse was very active in the Church of the Advent Episcopal Church in Norfolk. Other affiliations included the Masons, where he held a life membership in the Cavite Lodge in Manilla.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Church of the Advent with the Rev. Robert Miller officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the church in favor of the Advent church memorial fund. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is in charge.
