MARGUERITE MARX

Marguerite Marx, 83, of the 5600 block of Wesleyan Drive, died May 24, 1996, in a local hospital.

Miss Marx was a native of Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Miriam Marx. She moved to Miami, Fla., where she lived for many years before returning to Virginia Beach. Miss Marx was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward Marx, Milton Marx and Marvin Marx; and by her sister, Lillian Marx.

Miss Marx was an amateur historian, and had several articles published in local publications. She was a member of Beth El, The Hebrew Ladies' Charity Society, Beth Sholom Home Auxiliary, Hadassah, Southern Jewish Historical Society, and the Jewish War Veterans Auxiliary. She was confirmed at Beth El and her family has been members of Beth El for over 100 years.

Survivors include three nieces, Ruth Cass of Bertha, Md., Dorothy Werth and Sally Hyman both of Virginia Beach; a nephew, Michael Marx of Silver Springs, Md.; 12 great-nieces and nephews; and 22 great-great-nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 1996, at The Hebrew Cemetery by Rabbi Arthur Ruberg and Cantor Jacob Tessler. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Ronald N. Hyman Home Health Care and Hospice Fund in care of the Jewish Family Service of Tidewater. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, are handling the arrangements.
