A Chesapeake man was struck and killed early Monday morning as he walked around his car to the other side on the Route 58 Bypass, police said.
Sherman C. Sykes, 39, of the 2000 block of Pond Lane in Chesapeake, was hit at about 1:50 a.m. Sykes and his wife had left a dance at the Suffolk Armory. His wife was driving them home when they stopped to switch positions and have him drive.
Sykes was hit by a light blue van as he walked around the car, police said. The van did not stop and police are looking for the vehicle.
