April Mechelle Bethea Mays, 28, of the 6100 block of Alexander St., went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, May 27, 1996.
Mechelle was a native of Norfolk and she attended Mt. Sinai Holiness Church.
Survivors include her husband, Charles T. Mays; three sons, Montra C. Bethea, Curtis L. Bethea, Erik D. Bethea; a stepson, Charles Rodgers; her parents, Linda Y. Greene and Eugene Bethea; her stepfather, James Greene; two sisters, Shirley A. Nixon and Danielle L. Bethea; two stepsisters, Terry Greene and Jamie Greene; two stepbrothers, James Greene Jr. and Jeffrey Greene; six brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Smith, all of Norfolk; mother-in-law, Barbara Mays; 11 aunts; nine uncles; three nephews; and a host of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Esau Bethea Mechelle; and father-in-law, Walter Mays.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday by the Rev. I. Joseph Williams in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Burial is in Roosevelt Memorial Park. There will be a viewing Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Service.
